Microbiology Consultant and Infection Control Doctor
Dr Damien Mack is a consultant microbiologist and Infection Control Doctor who works at the Royal Free London NHS Foundation Trust and is an Honorary Consultant at the Royal National Orthopaedic Hospital NHS Trust.
He is also an Honorary Senior Clinical Lecturer at University College London. His infection control interests include the diagnosis, management and prevention of healthcare associated infections particularly those caused by C. difficile and also multi-drug resistant organisms.
He has a broad experience in the management of community acquired infections and healthcare associated infections including those arising in immuno-compromised patients such as transplant recipients. His orthopaedic interests include the diagnosis, management, and prevention of implant associated infections including the use of implant sonication.
After undergraduate training at the University of Queensland in Australia he gained training experience in paediatrics, general medicine, infectious diseases, genito-urinary medicine and tropical medicine before completing post-graduate training in microbiology at University College London Hospitals. His qualifications include an MSc in clinical microbiology, an MSc in epidemiology, and the Diploma in Tropical Medicine and Hygiene.
