Dr Gauri Godbole is the Consultant Microbiologist and Parasitologist. She works for the Reference Microbiology, National infection Service, Public Health England and the Hospital for Tropical Diseases since 2014. She is a Honorary Senior Lecturer at the London School of Hygiene & Tropical Medicine, Faculty of Infectious and Tropical Diseases.
She graduated from Byramjee Jeejeebhoy Medical College, Pune, has a MD from Mumbai University and has trained in Microbiology and Parasitology in London. She has experience in practice of tropical diseases and microbiology from major hospitals across London. Her expertise is in gastrointestinal bacteria and parasites and she is the clinical lead for the national helicobacter and botulism service for England and Wales.
Gauri has a special interest in current and emerging antimicrobial resistance in gut bacteria and parasites and her research involves use of whole genome sequencing and metagenomics for detection of antimicrobial resistance. She has contributed to many national guidelines, is on national advisory committees and has numerous publications.
