Dr Lambourne studied medicine at Cambridge and University College London, and completed specialist training in London in both microbiology and infectious diseases.
His interest in infections in immunocompromised patients led him to complete an MSc in medical immunology at King’s College London and a PhD at St George’s University of London, investigating innate immunity and susceptibility to Aspergillosis and Staphylococcus aureus infection. He completed his Diploma in Tropical Medicine and Hygiene at the Universidad Peruana Cayetano Heredia, Lima, Peru and he has worked with the Rare and Imported Pathogens Lab and the Hospital for Tropical Diseases, gaining experience in managing imported infection. He is currently a consultant at Barts Health NHS Trust.
