Dr Stephen Mepham

Stephen Mepham is a Consultant in Microbiology and Infectious Diseases at the Royal Free London NHS Foundation Trust where he has clinical responsibilities in general microbiology and infectious diseases, infections in renal and renal transplantation, chronic infection, and Outpatient Parenteral Antimicrobial Therapy. He is also the Lead for Infection control in the High Level Isolation Unit (HLIU).

After obtaining his CCT in Microbiology and Infectious Diseases (2006, Imperial Rotation, London), he obtained an MD (with Distinction) entitled “Primary HIV in Pregnant women in northern KwaZulu-Natal, South Africa” whilst employed at the Wellcome Trust funded Africa Centre, Mtubatuba, KwaZulu Natal, South Africa.

He returned to the UK in 2010, and joined the Royal Free in 2012 after posts in the West Middlesex University Hospital and Brighton and Sussex University Hospitals.
